Halloween with the little ones... what could be better? Chelsea and I got to take the 2 girls around the neighborhood. Abby was a fairy and Addy a cute witch. It was soggy moggy with the rain but we didn't care.

Tonight was Ballet West and Migo, Chels, and me! We had dinner downtown first then off to the theatre. It was Miguel's first time to see a ballet in person. He was impressed though I don't think he will be fighting for the ticket for our next performance. When Crys and Anj were younger we had season tickets, but I don't think they enjoyed it as much as Chelsea does. There were performances we skipped altogether and went for dessert instead. Ask Crystal about dessert at Little America; it's a funny story!

What have I learned from this past year of blogging? I have realized that no matter how mundane the day may seem, there is value in reviewing it. Gratitude naturally appears as I contemplate the details that would normally be missed while sliding into bed at the end of that day. My prayers are a little more about my blessings and not as much about my wants.

6 days to go

I am in the mood to have a fire and watch a marathon of scary movies (not too scary).

OK I know my entries have been less than exciting. There are just 8 days left and I am out of ideas. I have enjoyed looking back and remembering all the events of the year that slipped away. I plan to continue blogging in some way or another. What do all my fellow 365 bloggers plan to do? Also don't forget to check out the reunion plans at Matt's blog!

When I am all alone I could spend hours reading all your blogs. Some of my new found favorites include: a family in New York, a single older woman who runs an organic farm in Oregon, a lady who likes to drink a little... I could go on and on.

A memory about... Memory Grove- that's funny! Usually on Sundays, my mom, Paul and I would drive to Memory Grove. It is by City Creek Canyon, in the Avenues. It is a real treasure. We would pack a picnic and our dog and spend the evening hiking and exploring. I learned a lot from all the war memorials and plaques. If this is a place you have never been to, I suggest you go!

24 days to go

My mom died one year ago today. My brothers and sisters and crys' family (Addy was napping) met at the grave, today. We had a little bite to eat and talked/laughed. I miss my mom but feel so lucky to still have all my siblings.

A memory about... Sister Horn (my merry miss teacher)
My bishop was wise enough to know the wisdom an older teacher could impart was a treasure. At age 11, being a merry miss was something I had been looking forward to. The teacher was a twenty something, young married, beautiful sister in my ward. Wouldn't you know it, just as I was ready to move to her class, our bishop released her. Sister Horn was called to her position. She wasn't twenty something, she was old. She wasn't young married, she was a widow. She was beautiful though, in a different sort of way. Though at first disappointed, I grew to love her dearly. She taught us how to knit. She had us over to her house regularly, just for fun. She was calm and loving and just what I needed. Bless that bishop for thinking outside the box.

A memory about ... Miguel
When I first met Migo my whole family was very skeptical of him. On their first meeting, my mom had him move several large pieces of furniture. He was happy to do it for her and asked if there was anything more she needed. He proved himself to her and although there many details to still learn about him, she liked him. Through the years they grew close and had a lovely relationship. They had special names for each other (Matilda and George). The tears he shed on the night she died revealed his love for her. Two of my favorite people.

Today Addy came to spend the day with the daycare. It is fun for me to see just how much she reminds me of her mom. Example: When Andrea was about 2 years old she was terrified of flies. I tried to explain to her that she was much bigger than they were. Finally I decided to show her how scared of her they were. We would sneak up on them and yell really loud at them. Sure enough they would fly away in terror. All that summer I could hear Andy yelling at the flies. Fast forward to today, Addy was eating lunch and who should show up but a FLY. She screamed bloody murder and could not finish her lunch. The rest of the day she had her eyes open, searching for the dreaded fly. I guess it is time to start yelling again.

28 days to go

Today I went on a date with Miguel on a weeknight. I haven't done that for a while. He has been coaching 2 teams and it takes up every day of the week but friday and sunday. This is on top of working a full time job. No wonder when he finally does have some free time, he is tired. Miguel has always done whatever it takes to provide for his family. It was not unusual for him to have a part-time job when my girls were little. He is a very hard worker and I need to tell him more often that I appreciate that about him. I am off to do just that!

I always rescue baby robins who are in peril... every spring. I am pretty good at it, too. The vet taught me that if you soak a piece of dry dog food in water, it provides them with the protein and water they need. Then when they are strong enough I set them free.

We went to listen to Stephanie Nielsen speak, (of the Nienie dialogs). She was truly inspirational and I was so happy to be able to share the experience with all 3 of my daughters. We went to dinner afterward and really laughed our heads off. What a great night!
