I have never taken the ACT test or the SAT test. I am sure I would have scored very highly though. Just kidding, I have been watching Chelsea study for it and I am glad it is not me.
I have never seen the movie Goonies, I know I'm the only person on the planet who hasn't. I tried to watch it again tonight but didn't make it through it. At least now I know what the big deal is about the "truffle shuffle." It is a cute movie, maybe I try again later.
Crystal and Abby got home from Tennessee and came straight over from the airport. Man, I have been missing my baby. She ran straight to me with the biggest hugs. I am in heaven again!
I am full of mixed emotions right now. Tomorrow is Chelsea's first day of senior year. As I said previously, I have never been relieved when school starts again. I am feeling even more sadness than usual though. We have shared such a wonderful summer together. We had good movies and special lunches and some great talks. I am excited to see what this school year brings, but I will miss my good buddy!
I think even if she were peeling potatoes, I would love to be there watching Chelsea do it. I have always enjoyed watching Chels play soccer. Now she is playing tennis I get to watch her do that. She has such a great attitude and wonderful work ethic. Win or lose I am proud of my girl!
I am going to be a grandma, again. Andrea found out they will be having another baby girl in January. This family just knows how to do girls I guess. I can't wait to see how she is similar to, and different from Addy.
I am not a picky eater (obviously!) When I was little it just was not even an option. We ate what mom cooked and most of the time we liked it. One time she made lima beans and I did not want to eat them, they actually made me throw up. Now however, they are one of my comfort foods. go figure
I always make my bed. My mom set a good example and I am following. It bothers me so much when I don't make it. I have been known to make my bed in the evening because I just can't stand it any more!
I really love being a grandma. Tonight I had a fun date with Addy. Andy, Steve and Chelsea went to a concert, so I got to have some time with Addy. We played dress up, went for a walk, rode bikes, played in the sand, rocked and looked at pretty lights while the grasshoppers sang. Then we went for a late night visit to Target. We looked at all the toys until a "scary guy" toy scared the heck out of my baby. We had to hurry and leave! Now I can hear her as she lays in her bed talking herself to sleep. I love being a grandma!
I used to be so rude to telemarketers. Now I politely say "I'm sorry we are not interested, but thank you for calling." Hey they're just doing their job, right?
I enjoy old movies. I like Doris Day, Carey Grant, Jimmy Stewart and so on. One movie I love is, "With Six You Get Egg Roll". One night Chelsea and I cooked homemade egg rolls and watched that silly movie. I don't know if she remembers it, but I do. What a great sidekick she is!
I love to try new restaurants. Some people only like to go to tried and true favorites. I enjoy the unknown, maybe I'll like it and come back often. Maybe I won't like it and will never return, but at least I had a new experience. Some of my funniest memories are of the "different" places I have eaten!
Being a grandma myself now, I can see I missed out on a special kind of relationship. I had never really thought or cared about this before I had my granddaughters. Oh well...
I was the girls' camp director in my ward when I was just 18 years old. What were they thinking? We had a pretty small y.w. and I really did a pretty good job. The shopping for groceries was an eye opener for a teenager. Our theme was a holiday theme, our ward had Halloween. I did a good job at decorating our camp, if I do say so myself. It was a great experience, but I sure would not want to do it now!
I have never been east of Denver. I love to travel, and some day I will travel back east. I would much rather do that than visit a tropical environment. The travel I have enjoyed has been mostly in the western states, and usually connected to soccer. All good memories!
I enjoy sitting around campfires. Last weekend I did just that. Boy, did we laugh. Someone mentioned how funny it would be to have a reality show about E.O. The cast of characters about made me laugh right out of my chair. Had to be there...
I used to want to spend one night in jail. It was one thing on a sort of naughty bucket list I have. I even had a plan of what I would do to land me there. One summer, during my two weeks off, Chelsea and I spent the day at the county court house. We watched some trials, as a lesson in the criminal justice system. Well my plans changed quickly when they marched some women in from the jail. They stood before the judge, dressed in their orange jumpsuits and handcuffs and chains. They looked so MEAN! Never-mind, I quickly amended my list!
I really don't like Italian food. I try to like it. We go to different restaurants trying to find one to love, but no. Pasta has no flavor (no matter the shape). Ask anyone in charge of a church dinner and they will tell you there is no cheeper dinner to provide than spaghetti. I think some Mexican sounds good right now!
I have a soft spot for the naughty kids. Some of the "naughty" kids I taught in primary, are now on missions. They are still special to me. One boy and I are still friends. He used to invite me to his birthday for years. He told his mom that we like each other. He is on his mission now... I guess he wasn't that naughty!
I'm not that friendly. It doesn't mean I don't like you and it's nothing personal. I just have a hard time being friendly. I really do like most people, they probably just don't know it.
